Es stammt von Farmen im Süden Brasiliens (Rio Grande do Sul) und durchläuft einen innovativen Gerbungsprozess, bei dem keine Chrom-, Schwermetalle oder gefährliche Säuren verwendet werden. Der vereinfachte Gerbungsprozess reduziert den Chemikalien- und Energieverbrauch, senkt den Wasserverbrauch um etwa 40% und den Salzverbrauch um 80%. Nach der Gerbung ist das Wasser recycelbar.
